Getting Started

What you need to get started with Versicor:

Required

Matlab software from
The Mathworks

What is it?:
MATLAB® is the premier interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Simulink® is a block diagram environment for model based design. It supports simulation, automatic code generation, and continuous test and verification of embedded systems.   MATLAB and Simulink are used by all the top engineering and design companies.

Where do I get it?:
www.mathworks.com    A software trial is available for 30 days.   Special pricing is available for small businesses to purchase software licenses.

Mathlab/Simulink has many components available for purchase.   To use Versicor you need Matlab, Simulink, Matlab Coder, Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder, Stateflow and Stateflow coder.

How do I get support?:
During your trial or after your purchase, you will get support directly from Mathworks.

Motohawk Software

What is it?:
MotoHawk is a controls system application development tool that allows the user to create Simulink diagrams that run on the MotoHawk Control Solutions’ automotive-quality embedded control modules.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Store to purchase a license for MotoHawk and download the software from the Downloads area.

How do I get support?:
Start with the Versicor Support website area for information and contact links.

Development Controller

What is it?:
The Controller is the “brains” of your medical device. There are two types of Controllers: Development (aka Calibratable) and Flash. Development controllers are used during the software design and development process. These controllers have extra capabilities that allow the user to monitor signals within the software and fine tune the calibratable elements to ensure the best possible product (???). Once you’re ready to move your device into its production phase, seamlessly switch to the flash version of your controller.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Store to purchase a development controller

How do I get support?:
Visit the Versicor Support website for information and contact links. You can also find advice on how to pick the right controller for your application.

Harness

What is it?:
A Harness consists of all the wiring and connectors. It links all the components of the device together, allowing the Development Controller to read information from the sensors and control the actuators.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Store to purchase the harness associated with the controller you have chosen.

How do I get support?:
Visit the Versicor Support website for information and contact links.

Kvaser Communication Device

What is it?:
The Kvaser Communication device allows your PC’s MotoTune software to “talk” to the development controller. The communication device and the software on the PC communicate using a CAN protocol. This is used both to flash software into the controller and monitor parameters during software testing.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Store to purchase the Kvaser communication device appropriate for your application. There are several devices available. Single channel devices are suitable for most applications. But some applications will have multiple networks or complicated communication protocols. In those cases a dual channel communication device is helpful.

How do I get support?:
Visit the Versicor Support website and the Kvaser support website

Boot Device

What is it?:
During development, errors in module configuration or control logic design can cause a temporary loss of CAN communication with the Development Controller. Mistakes happen. The Boot Device allows the user to reset the controller to it’s initial state, with in turn permits new software to be flashed in.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Store to purchase the boot device associated with the controller you have chosen.

How do I get support?:
Visit the Versicor Support website for information and contact links

GCC Compiler

What is it?:
A compiler is a computer program that translates your model into an executable program that can be flashed into your controller.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Downloads site.

How do I get support?:
Visit the Versicor Support website for information and contact links.

Recommended

Breakout box

What is it?:
This development and testing tool is used to provide access to the signals sent between the controller and its sensors and actuators.

Where do I get it?:
Visit the Versicor Store to purchase the breakout box associated with your controller.

How do I get support?:
Visit the Versicor Support website for information and contact links.

Optional
